Let the Redeemed

Let the Redeemed I would like to be obedient to the Word of God today and say to all who are willing to read this little blog that I have been redeemed. Psalm 107:2 encourages all of us to continually say that we have been delivered from trouble. That we have been redeemed. “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so...” Psalm 107:2. The Psalm then goes one to tell the stories of some who have been redeemed. One has been redeemed from a life of wandering and being lost. God delivered them and gave them a secure place to live. Another was redeemed from a life full of guilt because of their rebellion against God. Others were saved from illness and sickness due to choices of sin. God healed them and delivered them from their destruction ways. Still another was saved from the everyday smallness of life and he allowed them to see his greatness and power. He disturbed their lives in such a way that they saw how small they were compared to the difficulties in life. Each individual is encouraged to “thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!”.

Verses 33-38 are so encouraging if read correctly. Listen to them, “He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, a fruitful land into salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants. He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. And there he lets the hungry dwell, and there establish a city to live in; they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield. By his blessings they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish.” The Psalm continues on and shares how much God is really involved in the lives of his people. He is constantly speaking to their hearts through what is going on in their lives. If they disobey and wander from him then he dries up their water sources. But he also provides greatly for them when they turn to him and allow him to provide for them. He goes on to speak of how he delivers from those who are evil and that he provides in many different ways. The Psalmist exhorts us in verse 42, “the upright see it and are glad”. Even in our most difficult times, if we look for his protection and provision, we can see it. It may not be in the provision of flocks but it will be in the multiplying and blessing on your family.

Psalm 107 ends this way, “Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the LORD”. Today I would encourage you to be wise. I would consider your life and see how God is so heavily involved in all aspects of your life. I would see your redemption and then encourage you to share your redemption with others. Tell your story to others. Maybe you were the one so lost in life, or full of guilt, or caught in addiction, or maybe you just were living your life in all of its smallness and God revealed how glorious he really is. Whatever your story, share it with others for the glory of God.
